Training Plan The Operating Engineers (Local 115) Joint Apprenticeship and Training Plan (OEJATP) was established over 40 years ago to provide training and skills upgrading to Local members. Over time the OEJATP has continually grown and now offers training to both members and non-members alike. Our Maple Ridge Training Site, established in 1975, covers 40 acres and is home to over $3 million dollars of equipment and facilities inventory. Built on a benchland , it is a natural source of gravel and is ideal for our training purposes. A wide variety of courses are scheduled throughout the year at the site and include Mobile Crane (Levels I, II and III), Excavator, Backhoe, Dozer, Grader, Asphalt Laydown and Aggregate/Asphalt Plant. Well over 400 apprentices and trainees are with the OEJATP, representing 22 different trades. OEJATP instructors not only provide training at our site, but also travel the province providing valuable training and skills upgrading for our employers’ tradeworkers. OEJATP training coordinators are responsible for the screening and recruitment of new apprentices and trainees, providing trade counselling from intake to completion. Staff also develop, design and validate new programs and curriculum. The mission of the OEJATP is to train tradeworkers to the highest standards in the province and with state-of-the-art equipment, upholding the standard of excellence, quality, pride and safety within the Operating Engineers Local 115.
